We’re excited to welcome Mitch Steelman to the Lakeland Engineering team in our Denver location!
As an Account Manager, Mitch is focused on growing the Colorado market as demand continues to increase and new opportunities emerge. His goal is to understand the changing needs of our customers, build strong relationships, and find ways to help both new and existing customers grow.
What Brought Mitch to Lakeland?
Mitch was drawn to Lakeland because of the opportunity to work in industrial automation and project development. He’s looking forward to bringing his experience to a new environment while continuing to expand his knowledge of the technologies and solutions that help our customers succeed.
One of the things Mitch is most excited about is the opportunity to grow in a new domain and work with a different set of technologies.
His goal? To expand his skillset and become a more well-rounded Sales Engineer.
When asked what strength he brings to the team, Mitch gave an answer that says a lot about his approach to learning and experience:
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but I made them somewhere else.”
We think that’s one way of saying he’s bringing plenty of experience, and hopefully some lessons learned along the way!
A Passion for Problem-Solving
What Mitch enjoys most about the electrical and engineering field is the combination of problem-solving and hands-on work.
“I enjoy the combination of problem-solving and hands-on work,” Mitch says. “You get to take something that isn’t working or could work better, figure out why, and come up with a practical solution.”
He also enjoys that the industry is constantly evolving. New equipment, technologies, safety standards, and more efficient ways of doing things mean there is always something new to learn.
For Mitch, one of the most rewarding parts of the job is seeing the direct result of that work, especially when a system runs reliably because of something he helped design, troubleshoot, or install.
Outside of Work
When he’s not working with customers, you’ll likely find Mitch outdoors. He enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, and bicycling, along with reading, trivia and board games, playing cards, and trap, skeet, and range shooting.
There’s also a musical side to Mitch that you might not expect. He’s pretty good on the electric guitar, having played in bands during his summer breaks while in college. He still plays as a hobby today.
Mitch earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing from Troy University and holds a Six Sigma Black Belt certification. He is a proud father of five sons, and now an empty nester!
We’re excited to have Mitch on board and look forward to seeing the impact he makes as he helps Lakeland continue to grow throughout Colorado!
Welcome to the team, Mitch!
